Here you can feel the hand of the imperial house. Not only the view from four windows, in two directions across the lake, from historically handcrafted box windows, but also, and to a very special extent, the historic and unique listed ceiling, designed by a blacksmith and created by a sculptor. A sculptor also took on this work during the restoration.
The 40 m² Wald private suite offers a majestic experience. Everything here makes it clear that Empress Maria Theresa positioned her forest master as the representative of imperial power in the middle of Hallstatt.
Today, this room impresses not only with its historical reference, but also with the intimate experience of the seasons as you gaze out from your bed over the lake and up to the mountains that frame the lake in a special way.
The bed is handcrafted from 500-year-old wood and is raised so high that when you wake up, all you see is the splendour of nature.

During the reign of Empress Maria Theresa, today’s Royal Private Suite Wald was the most prestigious and largest room in the house of Praunspergler, the imperial hunting and forestry master.
Majestic generosity characterises this private suite, once used as the reception room of Empress Maria Theresa’s hunting and forestry master. The walls, the unique ceiling and every single detail of the furnishings exude authenticity. At the same time, clarity is taken into account, characterised by the absence of ‘decorated cosiness’ through design with contemporary expression and understatement.

Additional guests must be booked in advance (€100 per person per night) and will be charged €150 per night for unannounced arrivals. This is an additional service for our guests who prefer to experience the trip together. We always recommend booking a second private suite. Ideally, the Salt Private Suite combined with the Sky Private Suite. These private suites can be booked as a whole top floor with attic when connected.
