The Salzburg Christmas Market on the Domplatz and Residenzplatz is one of the oldest, most beautiful, and most celebrated Christmas markets in the world — a tradition rooted in centuries of Advent observance in one of Europe’s most magnificent historic cities. From November 20, 2026 to January 1, 2027, Salzburg’s extraordinary baroque old town is transformed into a festive winter wonderland of exceptional grandeur. More than 100 exhibitors present handcrafted gifts, fine Austrian Christmas decorations, seasonal food specialities, and warming drinks throughout the market’s generous daily opening hours.
The setting is simply incomparable. The great baroque dome of the cathedral rises above the market stalls, the Residenz fountain sparkles in the winter light, and the Hohensalzburg Fortress looks down from its rocky hill over the glowing city below.
